Who we are

Heritage Foster Initiative Uganda is a community-driven, non-profit organization dedicated to transforming lives through improved access to quality healthcare, protection, and empowerment for vulnerable populations. Officially registered under Registration Number 5407-2022, the organization was founded with a deep commitment to respond to the urgent health and social needs of underserved communities—especially women, children, and persons with disabilities.

We exist because too many families in our communities continue to face preventable challenges: mothers dying from avoidable complications, children suffering from treatable illnesses, adolescents lacking access to accurate health information, and vulnerable individuals being left behind due to poverty, stigma, or distance from essential services.

Heritage Foster Initiative Uganda was created to change this reality.

Our Identity and Purpose

We are more than an organization—we are a movement of compassion, action, and transformation. Our work is rooted in the belief that every life matters, and that access to healthcare and dignity is not a privilege, but a fundamental human right.

We focus on reaching those who are often overlooked:

Vulnerable women struggling to access maternal and reproductive health services

Children facing illness, malnutrition, and barriers to education

Adolescents navigating complex health and social challenges

Persons with disabilities who are frequently excluded from essential services

Our programs are designed to respond directly to these needs through community-based, inclusive, and sustainable approaches.

Our Goal

To improve access to health services for vulnerable women, children, and families through improved access and quality reproductive and child health and adolescent health services.

This goal guides everything we do. It shapes our programs, informs our partnerships, and drives our commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind.

We work to bridge gaps in healthcare by bringing services closer to communities, strengthening awareness, and promoting preventive care. Our focus is not only on treating illness but also on empowering individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to lead healthy lives.

Our Vision

To strategically improve the sexual and reproductive health status of vulnerable women, children, and persons with disabilities to elevate their family lives through an integrated approach, partnerships, collaboration, education, and research that will build a transformed community.

Our vision reflects our long-term commitment to creating lasting change. We believe that healthier individuals lead to stronger families, and stronger families build thriving communities.

We envision a future where:

Women have safe pregnancies and access to quality maternal care

Children grow up healthy, educated, and protected

Adolescents have access to youth-friendly health services and information

Persons with disabilities are included, supported, and empowered

Communities are informed, resilient, and self-sustaining

Through integration, collaboration, and continuous learning, we are working to turn this vision into reality.

Our Mission

To save a mother, improve family life, raise a nation.

This mission captures the essence of our work.

Saving a mother means ensuring access to maternal healthcare, preventing avoidable deaths, and supporting women throughout their reproductive journey.

Improving family life means strengthening the health, well-being, and stability of households—ensuring that children are cared for, educated, and protected.

Raising a nation means contributing to the broader development of Uganda by investing in healthy, empowered, and productive communities.

Every outreach we conduct, every child we support, and every community we engage brings us closer to fulfilling this mission.

Our Core Values – I REACH

Our work is guided by a strong set of core values summarized as I REACH. These values define who we are, how we operate, and how we serve our communities.

1. Integrity

We uphold the highest standards of honesty, ethics, and professionalism in all that we do. We are committed to doing what is right, even when no one is watching. Our communities trust us because we act with sincerity and respect.

2. Research-Based

We believe in evidence-driven solutions. Our programs are informed by data, research, and community needs assessments. This ensures that our interventions are effective, relevant, and impactful.

3. Equality

We believe that every person deserves equal access to opportunities and services, regardless of gender, age, ability, or background. We promote inclusiveness and work to eliminate discrimination in all its forms.

5. Community-Centred Partnership

We work hand-in-hand with communities, local leaders, and partners. We believe that sustainable change comes from collaboration and shared ownership. Our programs are designed with the community, not just for the community.

6. Health Promotion

We prioritize prevention and education. By empowering individuals with knowledge and promoting healthy behaviors, we reduce the burden of disease and improve long-term outcomes.

Our Approach
